COLUMBUS, Ohio — Issue 47 passed Tuesday night with 57% of the vote, according to the Franklin County Board of Elections.

The passage of Issue 47 approves of a sales tax levy to support the Central Ohio Transit Authority. It will increase the sales tax in all service areas from .5% to 1%. The funds go toward LinkUS, a $2 billion transportation plan.

The plan includes a new public transit system with three rapid bus transit corridors on West Broad Street, East Main Street and Northwest. The three routes are expected to be up and running by 2030, according to the plan.

Additionally, the plan will add more than 150 miles of bike paths, trails and sidewalks.

Other features include dedicated bike lanes, more bus capacity and updated traffic signals.
