AKRON, Ohio — Akron announced leaf removal will begin Nov. 4, and residents can track the city's progress and schedule through a new tracker.

What You Need To Know

  • The leaf removal dashboard allows residents to track the city's progress on leaf pickup

  • Residents can also search their address to check which ward they're in

  • Residents who wish to put in a request to have their leaves picked up before or after the scheduled dates can do so by calling 311

The leaf removal dashboard can be viewed here. It shows real-time progress of leaf removal crews, and the map will show which ward is in progress or complete. Residents will also be able to type in their address to identify which ward they're in to check when leaf removal is scheduled.

The city warned each ward will take multiple days to complete, and signs will be posted with the scheduled pick-up dates. Residents are urged to start raking their leaves into the street the day before the scheduled pick up, and not earlier than that.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Ward 5: Nov. 4
  • Ward 3: Nov. 6
  • Ward 9: Nov. 8
  • Ward 7: Nov. 12
  • Ward 6: Nov. 15
  • Ward 4: Nov. 19
  • Ward 8: Nov. 25
  • Ward 1: Dec. 4
  • Ward 2: Dec. 7
  • Ward 10: Dec. 11

Residents who wish to put in a request to have their leaves collected before or after the scheduled dates can do so by calling 311.

The city also gave these reminders:

  • "Do not allow children to play in leaves on or near the street
  • Do not place branches or any other debris in the street – only leaves
  • Do not rake leaves into the street after the removal has taken place or you may be subject to a fine
  • Do not park vehicles on the street the day before pickup or until your leaves have been removed
  • Do not park vehicles over the pile of leaves because heat from the underside of the vehicle may cause a fire"
