OHIO — Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced the state's first statewide human trafficking hotline is operational as of Monday.

“The hotline is a much-needed tool in the fight against human trafficking,” Yost said in a release. “Every phone call could be a lifeline to someone needing help.”

The non-emergency hotline number is 844-363-6448 (844-END-OHHT). It takes in tips about suspected sex and labor trafficking and sends them directly to law enforcement. It additionally connects the caller with people who investigate allegations.

The hotline, operated by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, came about as a result of a letter to Congress urging lawmakers to increase funding for the national hotline.

“Having a locally operated, round-the-clock resource means providing critical tips to law enforcement in real time,” Yost said. “It means our officers and task forces have a better shot at rescuing victims and bringing traffickers to justice.”
