COLUMBUS, Ohio — Red alert fair-lovers, new bites are headed for the Ohio State Fair next week. 

New Food Avenue, a 2024 addition located between Main St. Stage and Mountain Dew Midway, will feature six new vendors with fair food ranging from pickle lemonade, to dairy-free strawberry cream parfaits, to savory “bombz,” a puff pastry filled with buffalo chicken, Philly steak or cheeseburger and deep fried to perfection. Beyond the new vendors, new foods are also making their grand entrance at the fair.

The fair has 142 food vendors, featuring 38 new foods and 15 “foods-on-a-stick,” and 70 varieties of deep fried dishes.

Schmidt’s, the longest running vendor at the fair, is returning with an exclusive cream puff flavor available at both Schmidt’s locations and its new 1886 Restaurant beginning opening day on July 24. The puff is a blend of blue-colored custard served in a cream puff exterior and dusted with powdered sugar.

Fair-exclusive Caramel Popcorn flavored ice cream will be provided by Velvet Ice Cream for visitors visiting the butter cow and calf sculptures inside the Dairy Products Building. The Ohio Poultry Association will offer new bites in the Taste of Ohio Pavilion & Beer Garden including one pound turkey wings and cheesecake sundaes featuring a scoop of New York cheesecake with cherry, strawberry or chocolate topping.

The Devilishly Good in the pavilion will also feature six new deviled egg flavors: espresso, maple bacon crunch, buffalo chicken, dill pickle, hot dog and a mystery flavor to be revealed by the Ohio Poultry Association.

Mini versions of fair favorites will also be on sale both Thursdays, July 25 and Aug. 1, for $3 Thursdays. The $3 minis include funnel cakes, fries, mini donuts, lemonade, corn dog, bourbon chicken and deep fried dishes.
