“Doorbell cameras are a part of the City’s concerted effort to combat neighborhood crime and package theft,” reads a press release from the city.

The city says it received 7,536 applications during phase 2 of the program and processed 3,000 cameras. They say 74% of those cameras have been handed out.

“The Ring Camera and accompanying app functions as a neighborhood watch and provides residents with the ability to capture video and/or photos of criminal activity,” the release reads. “A bonus for users is the camera’s intercom (two-way mic/speaker functionality), in addition to the ability to view entry way activity remotely from the convenience of the Ring App.”

Only one camera is available per home, and there is a limited supply.
