CLEVELAND — Cleveland Police Officer Jamieson Ritter, 27, was shot and killed while responding to a call early Thursday morning.
He was a four-year veteran of the police department. He also served with the 134th Field Artillery Regiment in the Ohio Army National Guard, where he was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant. He had deployed to Syria in 2022, after he had joined Cleveland Police, and he returned in 2023.
Since his death, dozens of people and other police departments have been sending their condolences through social media. Some others have been leaving flowers, photos and flags outside of the Third District Police Station in Cleveland, where a cruiser has been parked. Take a look:
