CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati Cancer Center announced it has officially opened its Blood Cancer Healing Center.

  • The center at 3232 Healing Way in Uptown Cincinnati plans to open additional spaces throughout the rest of the year and into 2025, research labs for new cancer treatment discoveries, as well as wellness areas 
  • UC Cancer Center said it's the only blood cancer center in the U.S. that has all the care a patient needs, including inpatient and outpatient, survivorship, integrative medicine, spiritual care and more

The center aims to help the 1.6 million people affected by blood cancers in the U.S. annually, the UC Cancer Center said in a release, staffed with 256 clinicians and researchers who aim to elevate cancer research and care.

The center's vision was through Dr. John Byrd, known for his blood cancer care and research.

"The Blood Cancer Healing Center embodies a new chapter in cancer care. With personalized, holistic care and pioneering research coming together under one roof, we are not just treating patients; we are giving them hope for a brighter future,” Byrd, who is also a UC Cancer Center physician-researcher, said in a press release “Today, because of breakthroughs in blood cancer research, patients diagnosed with blood cancer, depending upon the type, can manage it and live for many years."

The center at 3232 Healing Way in Uptown Cincinnati plans to open additional spaces throughout the rest of the year and into 2025, research labs for new cancer treatment discoveries, as well as wellness areas for food as medicine and mind and movement therapies. 

UC Cancer Center said the new Blood Cancer Healing Center came to fruition from donors and it's the only blood cancer center in the U.S. that has all the care a patient needs, including inpatient and outpatient, survivorship, integrative medicine, spiritual care and more.
