DAYTON, Ohio — The Cedarville University team of engineering students once again won the 30th annual World Solar Splash championships, making it the 14th time they have claimed the honor.

Each team comprises of students who spend the previous year designing, constructing and testing their solar boat. The boat is driven by a single driver and must conform to size, power and safety specifications.

Cedarville scored 987.70 out of a possible 1,000 points, making it the school's most impressive victory to date. Cedarville University came to the top of each water event, including slalom, endurance and sprint.

The win comes after a loss last year to the University of Puerto Rico, who came in second this year.

The 2025 Solar Splash world event will take place June 3-7 at Champions Park Lake at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Springfield, Ohio, Cedarville University said.
