As part of Mayor Justin Bibb's Reimagining Downtown Cleveland Plan, the $4.99 million investment into the harbor aims to improve the safety, functionality and overall look of downtown's lakefront, according to a press release.

“Mayor Bibb’s Reimagining Downtown Cleveland Plan prioritizes connecting our lakefront to the urban core,” said Downtown Cleveland President and CEO Michael Deemer. "This investment and improved connectivity will attract visitors and solidify Downtown Cleveland as a premier destination."

The project includes the area north of Erieside and E. 9th St., which includes the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Great Lakes Science Center, Voinovich Park and surrounding walkways.

“We are excited about the updates and enhancements coming to North Coast Harbor,” said Bibb in a press release. “This work will make an already wonderful part of our city even more sustainable, accessible and vibrant while maintaining access to the area’s many popular attractions and seasonal events.”

Osborn Engineering will serve as the construction consulting firm, with Allega as the prime contractor. Voinovich Park, the marina, the pedestrian bridge, the boccee courts and volleyball courts will remain open during construction.

Improvements include new benches, landscaping, the installation of bollards, resetting all existing pavers for improved accessibility for pedestrians and more. Construction has begun and is expected to be complete in May 2025.
