COLUMBUS, Ohio — A total of 35 drug task forces across the state will be receiving more than $2.1 million in grants through Gov. Mike DeWine’s RecoveryOhio Law Enforcement Fund, as announced in a press release from the governor’s office.

The organizations will be receiving this money to support “their work to disrupt the drug trade and promote substance use awareness, prevention, and recovery.”

“Drug task forces across the state have stepped up in a big way to support individuals who are recovering from substance use disorder and to protect our communities from an influx of illegal drugs," DeWine said in the release. "This funding will help our local law enforcement agencies continue this vital work."

The release states the mission of the RecoveryOhio initiative is to “increase substance use and mental health awareness, implement age-appropriate prevention education in schools, connect those who need help with treatment and promote recovery.”

Just this week, a task force led by the Cleveland Division of Police and FBI conducted an operation that resulted in a seizure of almost 150 pounds of “suspected fentanyl pills and powder” along with multiple guns, a pill manufacturing machine and more. This was one of Cuyahoga County's largest drug seizures.
