COLUMBUS, Ohio  — Ohioans raise a lot of beef, ranking 12th in the United States for the number of beef farms.

What You Need To Know

  • Ohioans spend more than $4 billion on beef each year
  • Each week, Spectrum News 1 anchor Chuck Ringwalt and agriculture expert Andy Vance discuss an aspect of the state's agricultural landscape

The Ohio Beef Council is highlighting beef producers and Ohio restaurants through The Eat Beef Ohio Passport.

“We’re really excited that we have over 45 restaurants signed up as part of the passport program this year in all corners of the state,” said Erin Stickel, Ohio Beef Council chairman.

Agriculture Expert Andy Vance said consumers want to know where their food comes from.

“You like to get a little bit more of the story, and so this program is helping to connect the restaurant end of things, the end product if you will for where the beef comes from,” he said.
