Chuck Ringwalt is an Emmy-award winning journalist for Spectrum News 1 in Ohio. He is an anchor and reporter for Your Morning on Spectrum News 1. Since arriving in 2018, Ringwalt has traveled the Buckeye State telling the stories of Ohioans.
Throughout his reporting, Ringwalt discovered a passion for understanding where our food comes from and the people who grow it. In addition to hosting Ag Report, a weekly segment diving into a topic concerning agriculture, Ringwalt has highlighted the issues that affect farmers including the trade war between the United States and China, adverse weather conditions and an ever-evolving industry disrupted by the global pandemic. Ringwalt has also shared the personal stories of Ohio’s farmers including that of Kane Lewis, a budding fifth-generation farmer who became paralyzed after a hunting accident and the state organization helping him achieve what many think would be impossible, working independently and carrying on a family tradition.
Ringwalt’s broadcast awards and honors include “Best Television News Anchor” as well as first place “Best General Assignment Reporting”, both presented by the Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland Pro Chapters of The Society of Professional Journalists. He received an Emmy from the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for outstanding work in the environment/science category. Ringwalt also received first place honors from the Ohio Associated Press Media Editors for “Best Feature Reporting”.
Prior to arriving at Spectrum News 1, Ringwalt served as a multimedia journalist and anchor for WLTX in Columbia, S.C. In 2015, he reported in Charleston after the attack on Mother Emanuel AME Church. Less than one month later, he reported on the removal of the Confederate flag from the grounds of the South Carolina State House. Ringwalt traveled the Palmetto State showing the devastation caused by the historic thousand-year flood. He also reported on Rev. Billy Graham’s death and from his funeral in North Carolina as well as the 2017 NCAA Men's Final Four in Glendale, Arizona.
Ringwalt is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, the Radio Television Digital News Association and the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Ringwalt is a native of the Philadelphia suburbs. He graduated from the University of South Carolina's School of Journalism and Mass Communications with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism.
Ringwalt lives in Hilliard, Ohio. When not at work he enjoys spending time with family and friends. Ringwalt also values his involvement in the community, often volunteering at his church, St. Brendan the Navigator, and serving as a mentor and advisory member for the Tolles Broadcast Video Productions Advisory Committee.
