OHIO — So far during the 2024 spring hunting season, hunters across Ohio have harvested 10,574 turkeys, which is higher than the average for the past three seasons (2021-2023), according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
Throughout those three seasons, the average was 9,214 turkeys. Last year, the harvest was 10,351 birds for the same time in the spring of 2023.
This year's results so far include the two-day youth season, the nine days of hunting in 83 counties following the spring opener on April 20 and the first two days of hunting in the northeast zone, which opened April 27.
The top 10 counties that have checked the most turkeys this year are:

- Monroe (330)
- Tuscarawas (322)
- Muskingum (295)
- Washington (296)
- Gallia (291)
- Meigs (285)
- Jefferson (282)
- Guernsey (279)
- Noble (267)
Hunting is still open in 83 counties (south zone) until May 19. Hunting in the northeast zone remains open until May 26.
