COLUMBUS, Ohio — Thousands of runners and spectators are expected to descend on Columbus this weekend for the 21st OhioHealth Capital City Half & Quarter Marathon.

This year, the event will be held this Saturday and runners will take part in one of the three races: half marathon (13.1 miles), quarter marathon (6.55 miles) or the 5K (3.1 miles).

According to event organizers, around 14,000 people plan to participate in one of those three races. The race contributes about $7.5 million in visitor spending each year, according to its website.

With all these people planning to be downtown, many roads will be closed off to protect those participating in the races.

Starting from Friday at 5 p.m. to Saturday at 2 p.m., the following roads will be closed:

  1. High Street from Broad Street to Main Street
  2. W. Town Street from W. Front Street to S. High Street
  3. E. Town Street from S. Third St. to Damian Street

Additionally, there will be rolling road closures the day of the races, starting roughly from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
