The National Weather Service Wilmington, Ohio, office shared that Cincinnati and Maysville areas are now also under river flood warnings for the coming days "with both expected to reach minor flood stage."
For the Maysville area, that warning starts late Saturday night and goes through Monday afternoon. For the Cincinnati area, it goes from Sunday morning through Tuesday morning.
Portsmouth and Piketon (Scioto River) are also under warnings until Monday morning, and Meldahl Dam is under an advisory, according to the NWS.
In an email to Spectrum News 1, Brian Coniglio with NWS Wilmington confirmed that the following Ohio counties along the Ohio River are under a flood warning: Hamilton, Clermont, Brown, Adams, Scioto, Lawrence, Gallia, Meigs, Athens and Washington.
"The warnings are issued for river forecast points along the river," Coniglio said in the email. "The river points in Ohio that are in flood or forecast to go above flood stage are located at Cincinnati, Portsmouth, and Pomeroy."
First responders recommend drivers avoid areas of flooding and seek alternate routes. Do not attempt to drive through flooded roads.
