COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 12-year-old boy who was left in a Reynoldsburg Target overnight has been reunited with his parents, according to Franklin County Child Services.

Around 6:15 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a call regarding a child found alone in the Target store in the 8000 block of Broad Street. The child was found by one of the Target employees opening the store, according to Columbus police.

Officers then searched nearby stores, hoping to find his parents, but were unsuccessful at the time. The child was then taken to Franklin County Child Services.

Police eventually located the parents, who filed a missing persons report for their son on Sunday.

Police said no charges have been filed. It's unknown why the child was in the store overnight.

"The child’s parents are happy that he is safe," Columbus police said in a statement.

Target released a statement, saying their top priority is the well-being of their guests.

"Our team in Reynoldsburg, Ohio immediately contacted law enforcement upon finding this child and cared for him until authorities arrived," Target said in the statement.
