WEST CHESTER, Ohio — Authorities canceled an Amber Alert out of West Chester near Cincinnati on Monday after they said the child, Sara Herrera, 1, and her mother, Maoly Toscana Herrera, 17, were found safe.

According to the West Chester Township on X, formerly known as Twitter, they were found in the Akron area.

The Amber Alert said the suspect was believed to be Bayron Tejeda, 22, who is Sara's father.

In an update from West Chester police sent to Spectrum News 1, they said Maoly contacted the police after the Amber Alert had been issued to give them her location. Investigators found the Maoly, Tejeda and the child at an Akron home. Tejeda had been charged with interference with custody.

"WCPD detectives travelled to Akron and interviewed Herrera and Tejada and obtained documents from Summit County Children’s Services," the update read. "Due to discrepancies found in Maoly Herrera’s status as a juvenile, Tejeda’s unknowingly interfering with custody, and his cooperation after the fact, WCPD consulted with the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office and determined charges against Bayron Tejeda will be nullified."

The police department thanked the community as well as the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the U.S. Marshals Service.
