COLUMBUS — The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), alongside the 6-State Trooper Project, issued 504 citations as part of a I-75 high visibility enforcement project, according to a press release from the 6-State Trooper Project.

Of those citations, 454 of them were for speeding, 44 for safety belt violations and six for operating a vehicle while impaired (OVI). The high-visibility enforcement occurred from 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16 through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18.

When considering the efforts from Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio together, troopers issued 741 citations for speeding, 93 for safety belt infractions and 12 with OVI.

“The 6-State Trooper Project is a multi-state law enforcement partnership aimed at providing combined and coordinated law enforcement and security services in the areas of highway safety, criminal patrol and intelligence sharing,” the release reads. “The state police agencies in Indiana, Pennsylvania and West Virginia did not participate in this enforcement effort, as this initiative only included I-75.”
