CLEVELAND — The two Amur tiger cubs recently introduced at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo have now been named, thanks to a public fundraising initiative.
The selected names were Mila for the girl, and Sergei for the boy.
The public made donations for their favored name. The tigers were given the names that received the most donations.
These donations went toward fighting illegal wildlife trade, which the zoo said threatens the species toward extinction.
Other names that had been considered were Ivan and Boris for the boy and Karina and Anoushka for the girl.
