SOLON, Ohio — University Hospitals opened a new urgent care in Solon on Monday, the hospital system announced.

  • Like UH's other urgent care facilities, it's open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, but may have special hours on holidays.

The new location is at 6140 SOM Center Rd. Like UH's other urgent care facilities, it's open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, but may have special hours on holidays. 

Services the Solon facility can provide include x-rays, EKGs, medication dispensing and more. UH said it's the first of its urgent cares that's able to offer occupational health services for patients as well. 

The Solon location is UH's 21st urgent care facility in the state. UH said adding more locations is part of an overall goal to reduce travel time to receive care. 

“Our UH Urgent Care delivery model aims to provide the most convenient and valuable care for our patients,” explained UH Chief Operating Officer Dr. Paul Hinchey in a press release. “Having easy access to urgent care locations provide a more affordable option than emergency departments for patients who don’t have a primary care physician but need immediate, non-life-threating medical attention. By offering more urgent care locations, we can relieve the burden on emergency departments and reduce wait times so our emergency medicine teams can focus on critical cases.”

The hospital system recently announced it opened a new facility and relocated another. In January, one opened in Shaker Heights and another moved to a different area of Streetsboro.
