CLEVELAND — In addition to the recent announcement of the Browns hiring Ken Dorsey as offensive coordinator, the team announced it's also adding Tommy Rees (tight ends/pass game specialist), Jacques Cesaire (defensive line) and Duce Staley (running backs) to the staff.

Dorsey had rejoined the Browns after playing for the team between 2006 and 2008. After his stint as a player, he began working with stop of the top quarterbacks, including Cam Newton. 

Before rejoining the Browns, he spent five years with the Bills as a quarterbacks coach, passing game coordinator and offensive coordinator. 

“Ken has worked with and elevated some of the top quarterbacks in this league and will bring a fresh approach to our offense,” said Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski. “He knows what it takes to be successful at that position as he was one of the most successful college quarterbacks of all time and that has helped him become a tremendous coach. He has a history with this team and knows what the Browns mean to this city. We are very excited to bring in Ken as offensive coordinator.”

Rees recently spent the 2023 season as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Alabama, helping them win the SEC Championship Game and then advance to the College Football Playoff. Previously, he spent six seasons with Notre Dame as quarterbacks coach and then eventually offensive coordinator. 

“Tommy has established himself as one of the top assistant coaches in college football and I have no doubt that will transition to the NFL,” said Stefanski. “He has an incredible football acumen and I look forward to bringing his insight and unique perspective from top college programs to our offense.”

Cesaire, who spent nine years as a player and nine years as a coach, was previously the defensive line coach for Houston. He also spent two seasons as the assistant defensive line coach in Buffalo, nine seasons with the San Diego Chargers and appeared in 125 career games. 

“Jacques brings energy and a proven track record as both a player and coach in this league,” said Stefanski. “He has made his impact felt in every place he has been, and we know he will come in and work to increase an already high standard for our defensive line.”

Staley walks into the Browns staff with 25 years of experience in the NFL — 10 as a player and 15 as a coach. In both roles, he has a won a Super Bowl. In previous years, he's helped coach Carolina, Detroit and Philadelphia. He helped the Eagles win a Super Bowl in 2017. 

“Duce was a tough, hard-nosed running back in this league and brings the mind-set and energy to his coaching style that is needed in the running backs room,” said Stefanski. “He knows how to get the most out of his players and has worked with some of the best running backs in the NFL. We are excited to have him leading our running backs.”
