OHIO — With sunshine beginning to return, some Ohioans are looking for ways to get outdoors again.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources' annual Clifton Gorge Winter Hike may be the opportunity hikers are looking for.
On Saturday, Feb. 10, multiple six-mile hikes will be offered throughout the morning beginning at 9 a.m. at John Bryan State Park Day Lodge. The hikes will follow the Little Miami State and National Scenic River into the preserve and back to the park. Hikers will receive hot cocoa and snacks around the halfway point at the Clifton Gorge Nature Center.
Hikers are encouraged to dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring water for the hike.
Clifton Gorge is a National Natural Landmark, designated in 1967 for its, "interglacial and postglacial canyon-cutting into the dolomites of the Niagara Escarpment," according to the National Parks Service.
