COLUMBUS, Ohio — It was a busy Monday for Columbus City Council.

What You Need To Know

  • Monday, Columbus City Council touched on several topics like homelessness, housing and community safety

  • One topic of conversation that was not included on the agenda but was brought forth from the community is a demand for a ceasefire now in Gaza

  • After lots of education on what is happening in Gaza, council is now beginning the conversation of creating a resolution to ceasefire now in Gaza

Big topics were on the agenda, including homelessness, housing and community safety. But one thing that was not on the agenda that ended up being the main topic of conversation was demanding a resolution calling for a cease-fire.

This is not the first time Palestinian advocates have come to city hall to address what is happening in Gaza. In November, protesters came hoping to demand a resolution to call for a ceasefire.

Rosan Eldadah said she has been attending almost every city council meeting since the Israel-Hamas war started and will not stop until change is made because she has a personal connection. She has family currently in Gaza and has lost family during the war.

“That first missile trapped and killed my aunt, who was a computer engineer. It also trapped my three cousins. A 20 year old, three year old and an 18 month old,” said Eldadah.

City council is collaborating with Palestinian community members calling for a cease-fire in Gaza.
