MENTOR, Ohio — After a week of freezing temperatures and a few days of snow, many Ohioans had stayed inside. Although Mentor still hosted their 2024 Chill Out Mentor event.

What You Need To Know

  • Many Ohioans have been staying inside due to weather

  • Mentor hosted their "Chill Out" event to bring the community together

  • The event included a chili cook off, sledding, ice sculptures, food trucks and more

Kelly Jarc, a longtime Mentor resident, participated in one of the day’s activities.

“It’s cold, but I mean, it’s fun. It’s something different,” she said.

The “something different” was the .5k donut and hot chocolate run, which Jarc decided to still participate in despite the cold.

“Just to experience it, I’ve never done it before and I thought it would be fun,” she said.

Kevin Cindirc, one of the event’s organizers, explained what other activities the event had. The day included a chili off, sledding, ice sculptures, food trucks and more.

“We are so cooped up in the winter months and you don’t get a chance to see the community all together like we do here in the summer and so this is just a great chance to get everybody back out, even if it’s just for the day to come outside and enjoy the community and enjoy the camaraderie with one another,” he said.

Jarc said that she wanted to get outside and get some fresh air and, despite the cold, she had a good time.
