AKRON, Ohio — Akron Mayor Shammas Malik announced a new app to support the city's 311 Action Center, which allows residents to address non-emergency concerns or make other requests they may need.

The app, "MyAkron311," is powered by Rock Solid and available on all Apple or Android devices. Residents will be able to create a profile, enter service requests, look up timely city information and set up notifications, such as for trash collection reminders.

“I’m excited to launch the new Akron 311 app for our residents to make our city services and communications that much more accessible to our community,” said Malik in a press release. “During my campaign, I often spoke of the need for an easier way to track city service requests and this app does just that. Also, by creating an account and entering your address, residents will have access to notifications sent directly to their phones for everything from trash collection reminders to updates on their service request.”

Residents can still file a service request by calling 311 or visiting the website. They are able to submit requests with their name or anonymously.

The app also allows residents to see if there were already similar requests filed for their area, such as for a pothole. Aside from service requests, the app also hosts other city resources, such as the city's social media channels, the latest updates from recreation and parks, and the calendar for Akron City Council.
