CLEVELAND — A 16-year-old, intending to fly from Tampa to Cleveland, boarded the wrong Frontier Airlines flight and ended up in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dec. 22, 2023, according to a statement from the airline provided to Spectrum News 1.
"Both the San Juan and Cleveland flights departed from the same gate with the San Juan flight departing first," the statement reads. "He was immediately flown back to Tampa on the same aircraft and accommodated on a flight to Cleveland the following day. Frontier has extended its sincere apologies to the family for the error."
The release notes that the airline allows for children above the age of 15 to fly unaccompanied and does not "offer an unaccompanied minor program that involves airline-provided escorts for minors."
