A celebration that loyal Crew fans say means the world to them, especially because the team was on the verge of moving to Austin just over five years ago.

“It is just absolutely so meaningful for folks that have supported the team, that supported the team through the Save the Crew movement to have our second championship in four years. And since that movement, it just means the world to you, to fans, it means the world to Columbus. It’s just a really great time,” said Columbus Crew fan, Paco Argondizza.

The excitement before, during and after the MLS cup was definitely felt throughout the city. A record number of 20,802 fans attended the MLS Cup on Saturday and they brought that same energy to the victory parade along Nationwide Boulevard.

“I’m excited just to be here. I’m excited that we have this opportunity again. Getting to be at the game was just an unreal experience that I got to share it with some of the best people in my life,” said Columbus Crew fan, Suzi Clow.

The win and the celebration, all a massive boost for this fan base, that’s been through it all, especially over the last decade.

“It means community. It means everybody coming together, everybody supporting the club and the city and the community as best we can. You know, we’re all we’re all in this together. That was the that was the motto for this year. And that’s that’s really what the club supports. And that’s really what the fans try to try to encompass that every game,” said Argondizza.

From almost going extinct to being national champions, the Columbus Crew and their loyal fans have a lot to celebrate.
