COLUMBUS, Ohio — OhioHealth announced it will open its 15th hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 6. 

The OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital will be located on 1010 Refugee Rd., expanding the northern side of the current campus.

  • OhioHealth said the Pickerington Emergency Care Center will still be on site, but will now be a part of a hospital instead of a freestanding emergency department

  • OhioHealth added the Pickerington Methodist Hospital will be the first central Ohio hospital "to offer new smart room technology"

“Since opening in 2015, the OhioHealth Pickerington Medical Campus has proudly served the community and its health care needs,” said Kevin Lutz, president of Pickerington Methodist. “Now, with the opening of the hospital, we’re thrilled to expand our already robust services with new capabilities that will save and improve the lives of our patients.”

The hospital will bring new services, including:

  • Surgery
  • Women’s health, which includes labor and delivery, gynecology and maternal fetal medicine
  • Acute and specialty care, such as lung and kidney care
  • Primary care
  • Sports medicine
  • Cancer care
  • Heart and vascular
  • Stroke care with a stroke interventional suite
  • Imaging, lab services, pharmacy and rehabilitation services

OhioHealth said the Pickerington Emergency Care Center will still be on site, but will now be a part of a hospital instead of a freestanding emergency department. 

OhioHealth added the Pickerington Methodist Hospital will be the first central Ohio hospital "to offer new smart room technology that will simplify communication between the patient and their care team, as well as family and friends, while bringing some of the comforts of home right to the bedside." This technology includes in-room video capabilities, tailored digital patient education, a digital meal ordering platform and access to real-time patient information through digital door signage, according to OhioHealth.

"We are so excited to be bringing this kind of technology to Pickerington,” said Lutz. “It’s going to be a game changer in terms of patient experience and it’s also going to allow our care teams to work more efficiently to deliver the highest quality of care.”
