BEAVERCREEK, Ohio — Four people have been injured following a shooting at a Walmart Supercenter in Beavercreek Monday night.
Police said a man walked into the store, located in the 3300 block of Pentagon Boulevard, at about 8:35 p.m. and began firing a weapon. Officials said four victims were shot and transported to area hospitals for treatment.
“The conditions of the victims right now is unknown" but all were taken to hospitals for treatment, police Capt. Scott Molnar said at a news conference just before midnight Monday.
Investigators said the suspect was dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and there was no ongoing threat to the Dayton suburb of more than 45,000 residents. His name, a motive for the attack and other details weren't immediately released.
Police said no shots were fired by law enforcement responding to the scene.
Crime scene tape blocked off the front of store and much of the parking lot early Tuesday morning where law enforcement continued their investigation. Local police, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms are on scene assisting with the investigation.
“We’re heartbroken by what’s happened at our Beavercreek, Ohio store. This remains a developing situation, and we’re working closely with investigators on the scene,” Walmart said in a statement early Tuesday morning.
Officials are expected to release more information about the shooting and their investigation during a media briefing this afternoon.
