Issue 1, which will enshrine reproductive rights — including the right to an abortion, access to contraception and miscarriage care — passed with more 55% of "Yes" votes with more than 65% of the expected vote in.

Issue 2, which will legalize recreational marijuana in the state, passed with more than 55% of the vote with more than 65% of the expected vote in.

Issue 1 will also create legal protections for those who assist someone with reproductive medical treatment, prohibit the state from penalizing or prohibit abortion before an unborn child is deemed viable and more.

Ohio is the seventh state where voters decided to protect abortion access after the landmark ruling and was the only state to consider a statewide abortion rights question this year.

As for legalizing recreational marijuana, Ohio became the 24th state to do so. The measure allows adults ages 21 and older to buy and possess up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis, up to 15 grams of marijuana concentrate and up to six plants at home.

The election’s outcome represents a blow to GOP lawmakers, Republican Gov. Mike DeWine and business and manufacturing organizations concerned about its impact on workplace and traffic safety.
