SANDUSKY, Ohio — Want to explore a malevolent maze or listen to "murderous" metal music? If the answer is "yes" to both, Cedar Point is kicking off its 26th HalloWeekends Thursday that include new attractions with these themes for those seeking a fright.

What You Need To Know

  • This year, guests can explore 10 haunted attractions — five outside and five inside — as well as watch live entertainment

  • New attractions include the Midnight Haunted Maze and Clownz: Death Metal Tour

  • Outside of the nighttime haunted experiences, there will also be family-friendly activities during the day, including corn mazes, pumpkin decorating, trick-or-treating and other games

This year, guests can explore 10 haunted attractions — five outside and five inside — as well as watch live entertainment starting Sept. 14 through Oct. 29 on select nights.

Among the new attractions is the Midnight Haunted Maze, featuring the icon of HalloWeekends, Mr. Midnight. Guests can explore the rooms of his malevolent mind and be exposed to the terrors of his "Book of the Dark," according to the park. The new maze will be located near the GateKeeper roller coaster. It's among a total of five haunted mazes: Bloodbath, Fearground, Freak Show, Slaughter House and The Haunting of Eerie Estate.

The other new attraction is Clownz: Death Metal Tour, where guests will encounter the "Butchers of Rock" band. They've been performing an eternal concert each night during HalloWeekends. The park said it's "sure to provide sinister guitar licks, murderous metal music and blood-curdling screams."

The park also said Midnight Syndicate, Halloween horror composers, will be taking the main stage on select nights. The group's show "Echoes of The Brimstone Club" combines macabre melodies from its newest album with live performers and pyrotechnics. It's among 12 entertainment experiences that will be available for both adults and children to enjoy, including "The Monsters Are Coming, Charlie Brown" and "Wake The Dead: A Murder Mystery Musical."

Outside of the nighttime haunted experiences, there will also be family-friendly activities during the day, including corn mazes, pumpkin decorating, trick-or-treating and other games.

Cedar Point is currently offering a three-day "Slasher Sale" until Thursday. The deal is priced at $29.99 and includes single-day admission to Cedar Point, including HalloWeekends. It's valid through Oct. 1.

HalloWeekends tickets start from $49.99 for a single-day admission. There's also a HalloWeekends Bundle starting at $69.99, which includes single-day admission, free parking and all-day dining. There's also the 2024 Gold Pass, which includes HalloWeekends. It's $10 a month and gives guests unlimited visits for the rest of 2023 and 2024. It includes free parking, discounts and perks, the park said.
