OHIO — More than 160,000 Ohioans are without power as of Friday afternoon after powerful storms blew through the state Thursday night.
Most of the outages are in northeast Ohio, including in Geauga, Lake, Portage and Columbiana counties.
A line of storms with gusty winds hit the state shortly before midnight, spurring Tornado Warnings across northeast Ohio and down into north central areas, such as Wayne County.
According to the National Weather Service, winds as high as 75 mph were recorded along the Cleveland shoreline. NWS has also documented wind damage reports from across the northern Ohio region and parts of central Ohio near Wooster and North Robinson.
NWS so far has confirmed four tornadoes in hit northern Ohio, and all there were rated EF-1. One was in Cuyahoga County near University Circle, the other touched down in Mentor, the third crossed between Sandusky and Ottawa counties and the fourth hit Trumbull County.
Power lines have been reported down in areas around Cleveland, and there's been several reports of houses hit by trees, including areas like University Heights, Euclid and Brecksville.
There was also a partial building collapse reported at Lyman Steel in Warrensville Heights.
The Cuyahoga County Justice Center also sustained damage, reporting broken windows, ceiling damage and a tree limb through a window.
