OHIO — The 6-State Trooper Project recently campaigned to enforce and raise awareness about the Move Over law.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol joined Indiana State Police, Kentucky State Police, Michigan State Police, Pennsylvania State Police, West Virginia State Police, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol on the campaign, which ran from July 16 to July 22.
Throughout the initiative, 1,064 citations were issued by the states. Ohio troopers issued 690 citations while Kentucky State Police issued 51. Pennsylvania State Police issued 208, Michigan State Police issued 82 and West Virginia had 24 citations.
Indiana State Police issued only 9 citations, but 108 move over warnings were given during the initiative.
Ohio's law requires all drivers to move to an adjacent lane when approaching any vehicle with flashing or rotating lights parked on the roadside. If it is not possible to move over because of weather or traffic conditions then motorists should proceed with caution.
