COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio officials announced Monday that each Ohioan with a disability could get up to $7,000 for college, training and credentialing programs for the upcoming fall term.


What You Need To Know

  • The funds are provided through Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities and will be used for tuition or other educational expenses

  • Students with disabilities must apply on the OOD website in order to see if they're eligible for funding

  • The funding applies to students participating in colleges, trade schools, apprenticeships and credentialing programs

The funds are provided through Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities and will be used for tuition or other educational expenses; funds are available for students participating in colleges, trade schools, apprenticeships and credentialing programs. 

“Higher education and a successful future should be available for all students,” said Gov. Mike DeWine. “By supporting college and non-traditional students with disabilities through services from OOD and its partners, they are given a greater opportunity of success as they transition from education and training to in-demand careers.”

To quality for the funding, students with disabilities must take the following steps:

  • Apply for OOD services online at OODWorks.com
  • OOD staff will then call the applicant and schedule an appointment
  • Complete the required paperwork to finalize the application
  • Staff will determine eligibility and plan the next steps

“OOD is dedicated to empowering Ohioans with disabilities through employment and independence,” said OOD Director Kevin Miller. “As part of this commitment, the OOD Education Support Funds ease financial barriers while providing individualized career guidance, technology, tools, resources and connection to a large network of employer partners.”
