AKRON, Ohio — Akron METRO Regional Transit Authority is offering Summit County residents free rides to polling locations during Ohio’s special election on Tuesday, Aug. 8.

Summit County polling locations are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

“METRO understands that access to transportation is essential when it comes to diminishing barriers across our community,” METRO CEO Dawn Distler said in a release. “We provide free fares for General Elections, but we understand that the special election on Aug. 8 is significant. We are proud to give our passengers an avenue to exercise their right to vote.”

METRO also offers fare-free weekends every Saturday and Sunday through the end of August on METRO Direct.

METRO Direct is the traditional bus service that follows the printed schedule and designated routes. Free rides apply on all METRO fixed-routes and ADA services.
