CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo announced Monday the Asian Lantern Festival will return for its sixth year starting Friday, July 7 through Sunday, Aug. 27 on select nights.
The festival draws over 150,000 guests to experience the illuminating, colorful creations and live entertainment. This year, the festival will have live acrobatic performances every hour and culturally inspired food at the MetroHealth Asian Food Market.
There will also be all new highlights, such as large-scale displays that’ll include a 40-foot-tall giant lantern. Guests can walk through tunnels and wander through the 150-foot-long Enchanted Garden Experience, featuring butterflies, flowers and insect displays. The walk-through experience will be Thursdays through Sundays, 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
“Asian Lantern Festival has become one of Cleveland’s most popular summer events thanks to the tremendous support from our community and event partners,” said Kelly Manderfield, Cleveland Metroparks chief marketing officer in a press release. “Set up for this year’s event is already underway and over the next month, artisans will be hand crafting the more than 1,000 lanterns that will transform the Zoo, including our most innovative and interactive displays yet.”
There’s also an option this year for guests to do the Asian Lantern Festival Drive Thru experience, which will allow visitors on select nights to drive around the displays in the comfort of their own vehicles.
Tickets are currently on sale. The prices are:
- Non-member tickets: $22
- Non-member, four-pack tickets: $70
- Member tickets: $19
- Member four-pack tickets: $60
- Same-day tickets: $25
- Same-day, four-pack tickets: $75
- Drive-thru tickets for members: $45
- Drive-thru tickets for non-members: $55
- Children under 2 have free admission
