COLUMBUS, Ohio — Cleveland Zoo announced the arrival of a baby white-faced saki monkey on social media Thursday.
This baby is the third successful birth for mom, Lopez, and dad, Luis.
According to the zoo’s website, saki monkeys are monogamous, meaning Lopez and Luis will likely only have kids with each other.
Lopez likely became pregnant in December as saki monkeys have a gestational period of about 150 days or five months. This is unique as sakis tend to have a birth boom in November and December.
The baby will be able to be seen in the public exhibit, likely hanging off their mom.
The baby’s gender has not been officially announced and a name has not yet been given.
