OHIO — Kris Jordan, a Republican representing Ohio's 60th District, died Saturday. No cause of death has been announced.

Gov. Mike DeWine has ordered that the U.S. flag and the state of Ohio flag be flown at half staff at the statehouse and at all public buildings and grounds in Delaware County. They will remain at half-staff until sunset on the evening of Jordan's funeral.

"Fran and I are shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Representative Kris Jordan," DeWine said in a statement. "We extend our sincerest condolences to his entire family for this most unexpected loss.  Kris will be remembered for his expertise as a legislator and his advocacy for the people of Delaware County."

Jordan, who was 46, was in his third term in Ohio's House of Representatives. He also served two terms as a state senator.

A Delaware County fixture, Jordan was elected the county's commissioner at just 25 years old. He went on to serve two terms before winning his first House seat in 2008.

Jordan graduated from Ohio State University with a political science degree.

"Our thoughts are with his colleagues and family during this most difficult time," said Ohio Republican Party Chairman Alex Triantafillou, per the Columbus Dispatch.

This is a developing story.
