CINCINNATI — Tax levies to help provide health services to the indigent population and support services to the elderly passed in Hamilton County.


What You Need To Know

  • Hamilton County ballot issues 8,9 & 10 all passed

  • Those issues were the Mental Health, Senior Services and Indigent Care levies

  • These levies will not only support mental health services but also provide services to senior citizens and health services to the indigent population

The Indigent Care renewal levy will help those who are Uninsured, incarcerated with health care services. It will generate about $41 million annually. The senior services levy will help seniors stay in their homes and receive other support services. It will generate $27 million annually. 

A levy supporting mental health services in Hamilton County also passed.  

It’s a levy with a renewal of 2.99 mills and an increase of 0.38 mill. It would bring in $44.9 million dollars annually to help support over 35 mental health service organizations across Cincinnati. That’s $8 million more than the last tax levy. 

“This mental health levy is really the safety net for those who are indigent, who don’t have insurance, who don’t know where to turn,” said Linda Gallagher, The Hamilton County Mental Health & Recovery Services VP. “It’s critical for health of our community.”

The current mental health levy is costs taxpayers $40 a month per 100,000 dollars in home value. The renewal will cost them $13 more.
