COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is hosting guided hikes for Ohioans to enjoy colorful fall foliage from mid-October through the end of November.
The hikes will take place at state parks, state forests and nature preserves. In addition to recreational hikes, educational walks focusing on wildlife, native trees and conservation efforts are available.
“Ohio has unmatched beauty any time of year, but as the leaves turn and the seasons change, this great state is simply stunning,” ODNR Director Mary Mertz said in a news release. “Whether it’s a short trek on a state park trail or an uphill adventure in one of our state forests, our amazing staff can lead people through the most majestic places and vibrant colors Ohio has to offer.”
Since fall weather can be unpredictable, the ODNR has some suggestions before leaving for a hike: check the weather forecast, dress appropriately, bring water and snacks and tell a friend where you are hiking and when you plan on returning.
Some upcoming hikes include a fall colors hike on Oct. 25 and a Halloween hike on Oct. 29.
