KENT, Ohio — Kent State University joins other Ohio universities in requiring facemasks indoors as COVID-19 cases continue to rise.

According to the university's Coronavirus Updates page, several campuses will be requiring masks as the county levels rise.

What You Need To Know

  • Several of Kent State's campuses reside in counties that are currently at a high community level, or red, for COVID-19

  • The affected counties are: Astabula, Columbiana, Cuyahoga, Portage, Summit, Trumbull and Tuscarawas

  • All individuals are required to mask while indoors, unless working alone in an enclosed space

The campuses are located where the community level for COVID-19 is high, or red. Affected campuses include:

  • Ashtabula (Astabula County)
  • East Liverpool and Salem (Columbiana County)
  • College of Podiatric Medicine and CUDC (Cuyahoga County)
  • Kent (Portage County)
  • Twinsburg Academic Center and KSU Airport (Summit County)
  • Trumbull (Trumbull County)
  • Tuscarawas (Tuscarawas County)

With the community levels reflecting high counts, all individuals are required to mask while indoors, unless working alone in an enclosed space such as an office or lab.

Two other campuses, Geauga and Stark, are currently at a medium, or yellow, community level. This means masks are not required, but that cases are rising.
