On June 13, storms swept across the state, leaving more than 300,000 residents without power—many of whom lost it for almost an entire week, according to data from state's power companies. Four tornadoes touched down during those storms, according to the National Weather Service.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services' website states residents can apply for replacement SNAP benefits to replace spoiled food if they faced a power outage of four or more hours. The replacement SNAP benefits can be for the amount of food the household lost, as long as it doesn't exceed the allotment for the month.

However, Ohioans must fill out a JFS Form 07222 within 10 weekdays of the power outage to qualify and submit it to their respective county's Department of Jobs and Family Services.

AEP has also offered to help residents after the outages by dispersing $2.7 million through the Neighbor to Neighbor Program. Customers can receive between $350 to $500 worth of credit. To be eligible, residents must apply by July 29. AEP said the grant will go directly toward the customer's bill.
