POWELL, Ohio — The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is partnering with Versiti Blood Center of Ohio to raise awareness about the need for blood donations through the Pulse of the Summer Blood Drive on Wednesday, June 8. 


What You Need To Know

  • The Pulse of Summer Blood Dive will take place at the zoo's Africa Event Center off the main parking lot June 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Appointments can be booked online here

  • Donors will receive a BOGO Zoombezi Bay ticket and portable Bluetooth speaker while supplies last

  • Anyone 17 years or older who is in general good health and meets eligibility requirements can donate blood

The blood drive will be taking place at the Zoo’s Africa Event Center, located off the main parking lot, and run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Appointments can be booked online by clicking here

Donors will receive a BOGO Zoombezi Bay ticket and a portable Bluetooth speaker while supplies last.

Anyone 17 years old or older and meets the eligibity requirements will be able to donate. Parental consent is required for 16-year-olds to donate and donors are encouraged to make an appointment, but walk-ins will be welcome. 


To Donate Blood: 

  • Have photo ID including full name and birth date

  • Be in good physical condition

  • Eat a healthy meal and drink water before donating
