AKRON, Ohio — Residents who want a free COVID-19 vaccination or a booster shot can attend one of Summit County Public Health’s free clinics planned over the coming months.


What You Need To Know

  • Summit County Public Health has scheduled free COVID-19 vaccination clinics over the coming months

  • Clinics around the county are for walk-ins while clinics at the health department will be drive-thru

  • No appointments are needed and masks are required

  • The clinics will administer Pfizer and Moderna shots, following CDC guidelines

Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccinations will be available at the clinics, the health  department said. Second booster shots can be administered four or more months after the first booster.

The clinics will provide any shot in the series following CDC guidelines, the health department said. The vaccinations are approved for those 5 years old and older.

No appointments will be needed and masks will be required at all clinics. Check the health department’s website and Facebook page for cancellations caused by severe weather.

Power Week vaccination clinics

Free Power Week walk-in clinics are planned at locations around the county:

  • Monday May 16: no clinic
  • Tuesday May 17: noon to 3:30 p.m. Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium, 2345 Fourth St., Cuyahoga Falls
  • Wednesday May 18: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Springfield High School, 1880 Canton Road, Akron
  • Thursday May 19: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.  Kenmore-Garfield High School, 2140 13th St. SW, Akron
  • Friday May 20: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Akron-Metro Pfaff Transit Center, 631 S. Broadway St., Akron
  • Monday June 6: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Ellet CLC, 309 Wolf Ave., Akron
  • Tuesday June 7: 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Barberton Farmers’ Market, Downtown Barberton
  • Wednesday June 8: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Nordonia High School, 8006 Bedford Road, Macedonia
  • Thursday June 9: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Glover CLC, 935 Hammel St., Akron
  • Friday, June 10: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Akron-Metro Pfaff Transit Center, 631 S. Broadway, Akron

Drive-thru vaccination clinics

Three drive-thru clinics are planned for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, Tuesday, June 21 and Tuesday, July 19. The clinics will take place at the Summit County Public Health office, 1867 W. Market St. in Akron.

Vaccinations can be administered to those: 

  • 50 or older;
  • 12 or older for Pfizer and 18 or older for Moderna and be moderately or severely immunocompromised; or
  • who have received Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine for the first shot and booster.
