CINCINNATI – It may feel like spring in Cincinnati, but starting May 19, it’s going to sound a lot like summer along the Ohio River.

What You Need To Know

  • Rockin' the Roebling is a free summer concert series at The Banks

  • Concerts will take place every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Schmidlapp Event Lawn

  • The concerts are also a fundraiser for the Cincinnati Parks Foundation

The Rockin' the Roebling summer music series is set to return to The Banks for four months of live music. Free concerts will take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. every Thursday through Sept. 1 on the Schmidlapp Event Lawn at The Banks. It’s next to the Moerlein Lager House.

The first hour of each concert will feature a DJ playing popular hits. That day’s band will take the stage at 7 p.m. Rockin' the Roebling features an all-local lineup, with music styles ranging from pop punk to salsa to 80s hits.

The full list is available below.

Moerlein Lager House will host the event along with Cincinnati Parks and the Cincinnati Parks Foundation. The event gets its name from the nearby John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge, which connects downtown Cincinnati to Covington, Ky.

Greg Hardman, managing member of Moerlein Lager House, said he’s excited to “bring the best local live bands to the Cincinnati riverfront.” He views it as a way to “[listen] to great bands outside with good friends and good beer.”

Schmidlapp Event Lawn is inside the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, or DORA, at The Banks so guests will be able to drink adult beverages at the concerts.

Concertgoers are invited to bring their own blanket or lawn chair. Take-out food and beverages are available at a variety of restaurants at The Banks, including through the Moerlein’s “Moer To Go” concession window.

Moerlein will donate $1 from every beer sold at the concession window to the Cincinnati Parks Foundation. Cincinnati Parks owns the event lawn space and the surrounding Smale Riverfront Park.

“We're committed to working with fantastic partners like these to create unique and engaging ways for everyone to enjoy their favorite park spaces and we're thrilled to bring this popular series back for another season,” said Rocky Merz, with Cincinnati Parks. “We encourage everyone to make a plan to enjoy a concert with their friends and family.”

Parking is located directly below the Moerlein Lager House in Central Riverfront Garage. Additional parking is available at the Public Landing on Mehring Way East of Great American Ballpark and directly across from Heritage Bank Center.

Guests can also park in other parts of downtown and Over-the-Rhine and take the Cincinnati Bell Connector streetcar down to the riverfront.
