CLEVELAND — The hit musical Hamilton will come to Cleveland later this year, Playhouse Square announced Tuesday.

Playhouse Square said it will schedule 48 performances from Dec. 6, 2022, to Jan. 15, 2023. Additional ticket information will be released this summer. Hamilton first stopped in Cleveland in 2017.

Hamilton was also scheduled to return in 2020, but COVID along with the state's limit on mass gatherings canceled those performances.

Playhouse Square said Hamilton tickets won't be included for Broadway Series ticket holders, but they will be given priority access to seats.

The musical is in the midst of a North America tour. The tour is also scheduled to stop in Columbus Oct. 4-23 at the Ohio Theater.

Hamilton, winner of 11 Tony Awards in 2016, depicts the life of Alexander Hamilton. The musical infuses rap and hip hop and illustrates the founding of the United States.
