CLEVELAND — More than 300 pictures of Cleveland’s iconic Terminal Tower, lit in yellow and blue in support of Ukraine, have been printed and packaged at Capture On Labs in Willowick.

The photos were captured by photographer Igor Oliyarnik. Born in Ukraine and raised in Cleveland, Oliyarnik is one of the many Ukrainian-Americans watching Russia invade his home country and feeling hopeless from afar. 

“I barely sleep. I constantly watch the news. I constantly read news articles. I wish this over, one way or another,” Oliyarnik said. 

Oliyarnik said he knew he had to help in some way, so he turned to what he knows best: his camera.

“I instantly put one and two together, that I can somehow collect money, and that was the quickest and best way that I can think of to raise money for Ukraine,” he said. 

The pictures are making a profit and an impact. As of March 15, $14,000 was raised.

All proceeds are being donated to The Cleveland Maidan Association, a nonprofit organization that is providing financial support to displaced Ukrainians and soldiers wounded in combat. 

Oliyarnik said the hopelessness he’s been feeling is made a bit better by the outpouring support and unity that has been shown for Ukraine. 

“I was extremely proud to see support of Cleveland and Clevelanders standing behind in support of Ukraine,” he said.
