COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two weeks into the season and the Columbus Crew are the only team in the Eastern Conference, and one of just two teams total, with a player to make the Major League Soccer Team of the Week's top 11 both times.

Crew midfielder Lucas Zelarayan was named to his second team of the week for his performance in the Crew’s draw versus the San Jose Earthquakes on March 5.

Zelarayan scored twice in the match, including the Crew’s first in the 40th minute and a second in the 73rd minute. The brace put Columbus up 3-1.

Two goals by San Jose’s Francisco Calvo in the 84th and 96th minutes led to the Earthquakes tying the match with 10 men on the field.

Portland Timbers midfielder Yimmi Chara was named to the team of the week in Week 1 as a midfielder, and was placed at forward in Week 2. Chara scored a goal in the Timbers’ 1-1 draw versus LAFC.

New England Revolution midfielder Carles Gil also received recognition both weeks, being named to the top 11 in Week 2 after scoring the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in added time in the first half of the Revolution’s 1-0 win versus FC Dallas. He was named to the team of the week’s bench in Week 1.
