COLUMBUS, Ohio — In celebration of the Cincinnati Bengals postseason success as they prepare to play in Super Bowl LVI, Super Bowl Sunday will have a new name in Ohio for 2022.

On Tuesday, Gov. Mike DeWine announced Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022 will be known and honored as Cincinnati Bengals Day.

The declaration said DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted encourage all Ohioans to wear orange and black and to "tune in and cheer on the Bengals as the play to win the state’s first Super Bowl championship and 10th NFL championship."

"I wish the Bengals luck as they prepare to play the Los Angeles Rams this weekend," DeWine said. "They have had a great season and hopefully they can win once more to bring home Ohio's first Super Bowl championship and 10th NFL title."

The Bengals finished the regular season 10-7, clinching the AFC North title and the No. 4 seed in the NFL Playoffs.

On Monday, Dan Tierney, press secretary for DeWine, confirmed DeWin, Ohio first lady Fran DeWine and other family members will be traveling to Los Angeles to watch and support the Bengals in the Super Bowl.

The Bengals play the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the Rams’ home field, SoFi Stadium.
