CLEVELAND — The Ohio Turnpike Commission said Wednesday it has received 40 claims from motorists following an incident on Sunday involving a snow plow aggressively plowing snow into oncoming traffic.
Claims have been filed through the Ohio Turnpike Commission’s website. Those with damages are also encouraged to report it to their insurance agency.
The Ohio Turnpike Commission confirmed that cars were damaged in a miles-long swath of the turnpike in Erie County on Sunday. The Turnpike Commission confirmed multiple injuries relating to Sunday’s incident. The incident was believed to have started around the State Route 250 interchange.
“As with any incident that results in accident or injury, the employee was immediately removed from shift and sent for mandatory drug and alcohol testing,” said Ferzan Ahmed, executive director of the Ohio Turnpike Commission. “The employee is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of these investigations when appropriate action will be taken.”
The National Weather Service reported four inches of snow on Sunday in Erie County.
